NATIONAL AND GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER AND REPENTANCE

SEPTEMBER 26, 2020

ON THE NATIONAL MALL, THROUGHOUT AMERICA & THE WORLD

Over the course of the past 5 or 6 months, there have been numerous calls to prayer, including our own Missionary Church call to prayer (mcusa.org/prayfirst/firstfridayfast/). This global COVID-19 pandemic, the racial tensions that have impacted numerous cities across the country, and the current political climate have all contributed to fear, frustration, and, in some cases, depression.

Some churches have maintained online prayer meetings daily since the beginning of the pandemic. Para-church organizations have hosted online prayer meetings for their constituents. Even though Scriptures admonish us not to be anxious about anything, Americans are anxious. We want the pandemic to go away. We want the riots to stop, and we want the political rancor to come to an end.

There is now a National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance. Jonathan Cahn, Anne Graham Lotz, James Dobson, Alveda King, Michele Bachmann, and a host of others are giving leadership to this call to prayer for the nation. This call to prayer is called THE RETURN.

“The Return is a movement, an appointed time, and a specific day set apart for one purpose – the return to God by coming before His presence in humility, in sincerity in prayer, and repentance.”

Learn how to participate by visiting thereturn.org. You can either make the trip to Washington and participate in the live event, attend a simulcast near you, or watch at home with a link to the simulcast. You can also host a simulcast event at your church; we have at least one church that is planning to do this.

The website offers promotional resources, videos, and prayer guides. There are also discussion guides and helpful information on hosting a solemn assembly.

Many of us have been praying for an awakening in America for a long time. Unprecedented prayer always precedes revival. Perhaps God will hear the cries of His people, and the Church will emerge stronger and have a greater impact than ever before.

This is an invitation to you to unite with believers across the country in a time of prayer for the nation. Check out the website: thereturn.org/.
