World Partners staff in Guinea Bruce Cluckie has worked tirelessly for years recording the gospel message in the Yalunka language to bring to the people of Guinea. He works with a local man, Pastor Kelifa, to record scripture which is loaded onto audio devices and also played on the local radio stations in Guinea and Sierra Leone. Discipleship and leadership training materials are also often loaded on devices in the Yalunka language. Bruce, Pastor Kelifa, and some additional individuals also record podcasts for the public. While they are recording, Bruce takes extra time to make sure everyone understands the teachings and the main points of the scripture or Bible stories used as they record. Not only is Bruce helping get the gospel message out, but he is also discipling as the recordings happen.
Recently, Bruce made contact with a group, Davar, whose mission it is to record the Old Testament into the various languages of the world. Bruce states, “We received word that this group was planning to record the Yalunka Old Testament this month to record the entire Old Testament (the New Testament has already been recorded). They will arrive in the village on February 20 and complete the recording in three weeks. We are very excited about this! While this was an unexpected project, we are very happy that it is happening.”
Bruce is currently busy preparing the electrical system and the recording booths for their use. He and Pastor Kelifa are also coordinating the arrival of those who will read the gospel during the recordings.
Pray that God oversees all the details; for traveling mercies; and that the resulting quality recordings will draw many Yalunkas to know Christ.
